NU Online News Service, April 8, 2003, 5:50 p.m. EDT – Privacy Council Inc., Richardson, Texas, and Littler Mendelson P.C. have published HIPAA Privacy for Employers, a book that explains what employers must do to comply with the new Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 Privacy Rule.

The regulation affects employers that administer their own benefit plans and employers that have partially self-funded benefit plans as well as health care organizations, the companies note.

The authors are Gary Clayton, founder of Privacy Council, a privacy compliance consulting firm, and Philip Gordon, a partner in the Denver office of Littler Mendelson, a law firm that specializes in cases involving employment and labor law.
