NU Online News Service, Aug. 8, 4:35 p.m. – WellPoint Health Networks Inc., Thousand Oaks, Calif., says its UniCare unit will be selling the FlexScape program, a defined contribution health benefits program, in Illinois and Indiana.

The program is open to employers with two to 50 employees.

UniCare sets up an account for each program member. A program sponsor must contribute at least $80 to the account per employee member per month.

Program sponsors can tell the employees to use the money to buy their own health coverage, or split the cost of traditional insurance with the employees.

Sponsors can also choose an option that gives employee members the ability to choose from a menu of five separate plans.
