Businessmen used to have to travel with a separate suitcase, just for their projector. No more, thanks to apps like these. Whether you're speaking to a client or to a large group, these programs can help you make mind-boggling data understandable and personal. Without the extra bag fees.

Need to meet with a long-distance client? Attend a meeting while out of the office at a conference or a sales call? Not a problem, as long as you have the Fuze Meeting app. Users can start and schedule video conferencing sessions as well as invite attendees right from their tablet. Fuze allows users to conference with multiple parties, chat and IM with other participants, and even add Keynote and PowerPoint presentations, Word docs, PDFs, movies and images during the conference. Limited conference abilities are available to users for free. Those who plan to use Fuze frequently, with multiple other people, should plan on upgrading to a paid account, which can cost anywhere from about $30 to $70 a month.

Remember overhead projectors in elementary school? This app combines the (few) benefits of an overhead — the ability to write or draw on slides — with the sleekness of an iPad. With Power Presenter, users can swipe through PDF files and annotate them with notes or drawings using their fingers. Work through the presentation side by side with the client, or hook the iPad to a projector for larger group presentations.
Free 14-day trial; annual pricing varies
MoneyGuidePro is consistently top rated among many financial magazines and websites, and it’s not very hard to see why. The program helps advisors guide their clients through the financial planning process, creating a strategy that’s easy for them to understand and, more importantly, implement. The Goal Wizard helps clients identify and prioritize goals, while the PlayZone tool lets clients adjust assumptions to see how different moves affect their probability of success. The app is highly visual and interactive, and reports are printable or easily accessed online.
Free with advisor subscription to an Amp plan
The Amp iPad app bills itself as the first “advisor-branded” app, meaning financial advisors can incorporate their name, logo and colors into the display. But that’s not all the app has to offer. With the Amp app, prospects are asked to select their financial goals and fill out a financial profile. Once all the information is filled out, an advisor-branded “starter roadmap” financial plan and a link to a personal online dashboard are e-mailed to the prospect. All of the prospect’s information shows up in the advisor’s Amp management system, where he can review prospect information and set up customized e-mails. The app is available by purchasing an Amp subscription, which also gives the advisor access to online tools for his website, unlimited e-mail campaigns and an online profile.
