National Advisors Trust welcomed James D. Alfred to the fold last week, while Jeannie Lewis and Bryan Morris went to Deloitte under the leadership of April Lemay. Ashish Dafria was appointed at Aviva to director of credit research, Ellen Zentner went to Nomura, Richard Eng joined ProFunds Group, and Patrick McCraw rose within New York Life.
National Advisors Trust announced on May 12 that James D. Alfred joined the company as vice president of business development, where he will accelerate the company’s growth strategy and expand technology, trust and custody services with existing shareholders.
Previously, Alfred was vice president of sales for Black Diamond Performance Reporting, leading expansion of the company’s western region in sales, marketing and relationship management to independent financial advisors, wealth managers and all major custodian relationships.

Compliance and regulatory industry veterans Jeannie Lewis and Bryan Morris will join Deloitte’s Asset Management Services’ governance, risk and regulatory practice. April Lemay, principal, Deloitte & Touche LLP, will assume leadership of the team.
Lewis joins Deloitte from Driehaus Capital Management LLC, where she served as assistant general counsel from 2007 until 2010. She brings more than 20 years’ regulatory experience to her role. Based in Chicago, she provides regulatory, compliance, risk management, litigation support and business advisory services to Deloitte’s traditional advisory clients, investment companies, fund of funds, financial intermediaries, service providers, and private funds.
Lemaybegan her career with Deloitte in 1996 and became a principal in 2007. Based in Boston, she has more than 14 years’ financial services experience, and will lead asset management services efforts in external and internal audit, valuation and securitization, risk and regulatory, financial accounting and reporting, security and privacy, internal controls, finance transformation, and operations and technology.
Morris brings more than 12 years’ industry experience to his role as a partner. Based in Washington, he has a leadership role within asset management services for the Southeast, providing both audit and regulatory compliance assistance. He joins Deloitte from the SEC, where he served as a professional accounting fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant, Division of Investment Management since 2007.
Aviva Investors on Monday announced the appointment of Ashish Dafria as director of credit research in North America. He will report to Ross Junge, CIO of fixed income in North America, and lead the credit research team responsible for more than $56 billion of North American fixed income assets.
Ashish will oversee and develop credit research investment strategy, working closely with the portfolio management team to formulate sector and industry allocation views and to monitor the performance of research recommendations. He has more than 14 years of financial services and credit experience, and has served as a senior securities analyst with the company since 2008.
Prior to joining Aviva Investors, Ashish worked at UBS Investment Bank as a director in investment banking and also worked as a senior analyst at Standard & Poor’s in India.
Global investment bank Nomura announced Monday that Ellen Zentner has joined the firm as executive director and senior economist for the United States. Zentner will be responsible for providing in-depth analysis and research on macro-economic trends affecting the US economy, while also proactively identifying and communicating anomalies in market data which signal important economic shifts.
Michael Guarnieri, global head of fixed income research, said “We believe Ellen’s ability to provide forecasts and instantaneous advice to Nomura’s clients as well as our own sales and trading teams will be a valuable complement to our global economics franchise.”
Before joining Nomura, Zentner was senior U.S. macro economist at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, based in New York, covering macroeconomic forecasting, policy and financial market analysis.
Provider of alternative ETFs and mutual funds ProFunds Group, based in Bethesda, Md., announced May 12 that Richard Eng has been named chief operations officer. Eng will oversee fund and investor services, financial administration, and information technology. He reports to Michael L. Sapir, chairman and CEO of ProShare Advisors LLC and ProFund Advisors LLC.
Eng was most recently with Legg Mason Capital Management as chief operating officer. During his tenure there, he oversaw professionals in the areas of investment operations, client reporting and production, settlements, trading, information technology, and finance.
Prior to Legg Mason, Eng was chief financial officer at Ramsey Asset Management, LLC, a McLean, Virginia-based hedge fund manager. He has also worked as product manager for all hedge fund-related software for San Francisco’s Advent Software, Inc.
New York Life Insurance Co. announced May 12 that Patrick McCraw has been named senior vice president in charge of the company’s south central agencies, one of the company’s four U.S. sales regions. He succeeds John Curry, who has become managing partner for the greater New York general office, and reports to Mark Pfaff, executive vice president.
In his new role McCraw oversees the recruiting, training and development of the managing partners who lead the 33 general offices in the south central zone, which encompasses 13 states from Florida to Michigan. Based in Alpharetta, Ga., he is also responsible for the sales production and overall supervision of the zone’s offices, which include more than 2,700 agents.
McCraw joined New York Life as an agent in the Mississippi general office in 1993 and was promoted to partner in 1996.
