The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) launched its second annual consumer-oriented public service campaign to educate Americans about the need for financial professionals to hold themselves to a fiduciary standard. The campaign--Focus on Fiduciary--will kick off on June 1, 2007, and continue throughout the summer, and is intended to help consumers understand the issues surrounding a fiduciary standard in the financial industry. Trisha Brambley, president and founder of Resources for Retirement, was appointed to represent investment counseling on the 2007 Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans, also known as the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) Advisory Council. Phillip Richards, chairman and CEO for the North Star Resource Group, has been named recipient of the 66th annual John Newton Russell Memorial Award, which recognizes sustained and meritorious service to the life insurance industry. Richards will receive the honor at an event during the 2007 National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) Convention and Career Conference in Washington, D.C., on September 11, 2007.
