What Do Reps at Independent B/Ds Want?

IA's annual poll reveals the answers

As part of the annual balloting process that culminated in the announcement of the 16th annual Broker/Dealers of the Year, Investment Advisor asked voting representatives of independent broker/dealers to rate their B/Ds in fifteen different areas, including an overall ranking. That tells us what reps think about their B/Ds' offerings, but what do reps wish they were getting in the form of services or products from their B/Ds? A question on the ballot asked just that question, and of the 4,813 valid votes cast this year, 464 reps answered the question with one or more responses. Here's what tops those reps' wish lists, and the percent of those expressing a wish who asked for that specific offering.

Better marketing support: 9.1%

Health care coverage: 5.4%

E&O products/programs: 4.5%

Practice management software: 4.1%

Trust services: 3.0%

Managed futures: 2.6%

Life settlements: 2.4%
